Winter Maintenance
2024-2025 Winter Maintenance Season
With the arrival of the 2024-2025 Winter Maintenance season, the JACOBUS BOROUGH Council would like to remind residents and property owners of the following guidelines:
- Vehicle Removal During Snow Emergencies: When a snow emergency is declared, you must remove your vehicle from the street. Snow emergencies will be announced on local TV and radio stations alongside snow closing information. If you cannot access these announcements, please assume that hazardous road conditions are expected and promptly move your vehicles off the street. Non-compliance may result in citations.
- Marking Property Lines: It is strongly recommended to mark your property lines with reflective markers. This will assist winter maintenance crews in identifying the edges of the street.
- Clearing Sidewalks: Residents, business occupants, and property owners of vacant buildings are required to clear paved sidewalks to a minimum width of 36 inches within 24 hours after the end of precipitation.
- Snow and Ice Disposal: Do not deposit snow or ice on or immediately next to fire hydrants, sidewalks, roadways, or loading/unloading areas of public transportation systems.
Note: Failure to adhere to JACOBUS BOROUGH's snow removal regulations may result in citations issued by local law enforcement. Violators may be subject to hearings before the District Magistrate, and upon conviction, may incur fines and related costs.
Winter Maintenance Contractor
The 2024-2025 Winter Maintenance contract for JACOBUS BOROUGH has been awarded to Easy-Dig Excavating Inc. Easy-Dig will be responsible for plowing and treating Borough roads this winter.
